Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 10 April 2025
Effective Date: 10 April 2025
1. Definitions
- "The Firm" means Tuah Law, a law practice registered in Singapore.
- "Service" means any of the three services offered by the Firm: Pension Orientation Sitting, Steady Representation in Pension Withholding Cases, and Lasting Plans for Retirement Years.
- "Client" means any person who engages the Firm in writing.
- "Engagement Letter" means the written confirmation of scope, fee, and process issued by the Firm before work begins.
- "Agreement" means these Terms and Conditions together with the Engagement Letter.
2. Acceptance
By returning a signed Engagement Letter or by proceeding with a scheduled sitting after receiving an Engagement Letter, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and Conditions.
Services are available to persons aged 18 and above who have the capacity to enter a legal agreement. If you are engaging the Firm on behalf of another person, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
3. Services
The Firm offers three defined services. Each is described in the Engagement Letter and on the Firm's website. The scope of any engagement is limited to what is set out in the Engagement Letter unless a written variation is agreed between the parties.
The Firm does not provide financial advice, tax advice, or medical advice. Nothing communicated in the course of a sitting or in any written summary constitutes advice beyond the legal scope defined in the Engagement Letter.
Services are available to clients in Singapore. The Firm does not advise on the laws of other jurisdictions.
4. Client Responsibilities
The Client is responsible for:
- Providing accurate and complete information and documents as requested
- Informing the Firm promptly of any change in circumstances relevant to the matter
- Attending sittings at the scheduled time or providing adequate notice of any need to reschedule
- Keeping communications with the Firm confidential where requested
The Firm's ability to act effectively depends on the accuracy of information provided. The Firm accepts no liability for outcomes affected by incomplete or inaccurate information from the Client.
5. Fees and Payment
The fees for the Firm's services are:
- Pension Orientation Sitting: SGD 165 (inclusive of GST)
- Steady Representation in Pension Withholding Cases: SGD 450 (inclusive of GST)
- Lasting Plans for Retirement Years: SGD 330 (inclusive of GST)
Payment is due within 14 days of the date of invoice. The Firm accepts bank transfer, PayNow, and cheque. Receipts are provided for all payments.
If a matter grows in scope beyond what is described in the Engagement Letter, the Firm will discuss any revised fee with the Client before proceeding. No additional charges are applied without written agreement.
The Firm does not offer refunds once a sitting has taken place or once substantive work has begun on a matter. If a sitting is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, a cancellation fee of SGD 50 may apply.
6. Intellectual Property
All written materials produced by the Firm — including written summaries, correspondence, wills, lasting powers of attorney, and letters of wishes — are prepared for the Client's personal use in the context of their specific matter. They may not be reproduced, shared commercially, or used as the basis of advice to others.
The content of the Firm's website is the property of Tuah Law. Unauthorised reproduction is not permitted.
7. Confidentiality
The Firm holds all client information in confidence as a matter of professional obligation. Information disclosed in the course of an engagement will not be shared with any third party without the Client's written authority, except where required by law or by court order.
8. Disclaimers
Legal counsel is provided on the basis of the information available at the time of the engagement. The law may change after advice is given; the Firm is not responsible for changes in legislation or regulatory practice that occur after the conclusion of an engagement.
The Firm does not warrant any particular outcome in any matter. Written summaries and correspondence represent the Firm's professional view at the time of preparation, not a commitment to a specific result.
9. Limitation of Liability
The Firm's liability to any Client arising from any engagement is limited to the fee paid for the relevant service, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
The Firm is not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss arising from reliance on advice given in the course of an engagement, unless caused by the Firm's own negligence or professional misconduct.
10. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement by written notice. If the Client terminates after substantive work has begun, fees for work completed to that point are payable.
The Firm reserves the right to cease acting for a Client if professional obligations or ethical rules require it to do so. In such circumstances, the Firm will give reasonable notice and assist with transition where possible.
11. Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising from these Terms and Conditions or from an engagement with the Firm will be subject to the law of Singapore.
The parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute informally before initiating formal proceedings. Written notice of the dispute should be sent to legal@tuahlawx; the Firm will respond within 14 days.
If informal resolution is not achieved, disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts.
12. General
These Terms and Conditions, together with the Engagement Letter, constitute the entire agreement between the Firm and the Client in respect of any service. They supersede any prior communications or representations.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
The Firm's failure to enforce any provision on any occasion does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
13. Changes to These Terms
The Firm may update these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms apply to engagements entered into after the revision date. Clients with active engagements will be notified of material changes.
