What a Focused Practice Offers
When pension matters are the only work a firm does, every client benefits from accumulated depth. Tuah Law does not treat retirement cases as a sideline.
HomeAdvantages of Working with Tuah Law
Pension-Only Focus
The firm works on nothing else. This depth of focus translates into sharper reading of scheme rules and a clearer view of what is worth pursuing.
Fixed Fees, Stated in Advance
All three services carry a fixed fee disclosed before any engagement begins. There are no retainer arrangements and no open-ended billing.
Senior Solicitor Attention
Matters are handled by qualified solicitors with experience in this area. Work is not passed to junior staff or paralegals for substantive steps.
Consistent Communication
Clients receive a response within one working day and are not left wondering what stage their matter has reached. Updates are provided without being asked.
Written Summaries After Each Sitting
After orientation and planning sittings, a brief written summary is prepared. Clients are not expected to rely on memory for information that affects their financial future.
Preference for Quiet Resolution
In withholding cases, the firm attempts resolution by correspondence before proceeding to formal steps. Many matters do not need to go further.
Expertise in a Narrow Area
Pension law in Singapore requires knowledge of the CPF Act, relevant scheme rules, and the interaction between private employer arrangements and statutory provisions. A solicitor who handles property, employment, and pension work simultaneously cannot be expected to hold all of this with precision.
At Tuah Law, the reading is current, the case law is familiar, and the likely positions of the CPF Board and private scheme administrators are understood from experience rather than inference.
- CPF Act and subsidiary legislation read in full and kept current
- Private employer scheme rules reviewed and compared across client matters
- Familiarity with CPF Board administrative practice from representation experience
- Older legacy schemes still encountered and understood
A Deliberate Process
Each service follows a clear sequence. The Orientation Sitting begins with a review of any documents the client can provide, proceeds to a structured conversation, and concludes with a written summary. The Representation service moves from review to correspondence to formal proceedings only if needed. The Lasting Plans service works across two sittings so that nothing is rushed and every element is understood.
This deliberateness means clients are not surprised. They know what is coming and what it involves.
- Engagement letter before work begins in every matter
- Document review precedes every substantive step
- Client approval sought before each new stage of a representation matter
- Written summary at the close of each sitting
Service Without Pressure
The Pension Orientation Sitting carries no expectation of further engagement. Clients who find the summary useful as a reference point are welcome to return later; those who do not need to return need not. The decision belongs entirely to them.
Representation matters are pursued as far as the client wishes them to go. There is no commercial pressure to extend the scope of work beyond what the situation requires.
- No obligation beyond the agreed service
- No upselling of services not needed
- Honest assessment of whether a matter is worth pursuing
- Family members included in planning sittings at no extra charge
Transparent Pricing
Three services at three fixed fees: SGD 165 for an Orientation Sitting, SGD 450 for Representation in Pension Withholding Cases, and SGD 330 for Lasting Plans. The figures are published and do not change without advance notice.
If a matter grows beyond its original scope, the firm discusses any revised fee before proceeding. Clients are never confronted with an unexpected bill.
- All fees published and fixed
- No hourly billing or retainer arrangements
- Scope changes discussed and agreed before proceeding
- Invoice provided after each service is complete
Results Focused on the Client's Position
The measure of a successful orientation is whether the client leaves with a clear picture of their entitlement and the decisions that face them. The measure of a successful representation is whether the client's withheld entitlement is restored or properly accounted for. The measure of a successful plan is whether the client can refer to it in the years ahead with confidence.
These are the standards the firm holds itself to, rather than volume or throughput.
- Outcome assessed in terms of the client's actual situation
- Honest about what is achievable before work begins
- Post-matter review available to any client who wants one
- Plans drafted to be revisited and updated as circumstances change

What Sets Tuah Law Apart
The Orientation Sitting as a Standalone Service
Most firms do not offer a fixed-fee, single-session pension review with a written summary. This sitting exists because many people need clarity before they can decide whether any further action is warranted. Providing it as a standalone service, without expectation, is unusual in the Singapore market.
Family Participation in Planning Work
The Lasting Plans service is designed to include family members in either sitting. Retirement plans affect the whole household, and the firm's view is that a plan understood by the family is more likely to serve its purpose in the years ahead.
Preference for Correspondence over Proceedings
In withholding cases, a carefully drafted letter to the relevant authority resolves a significant number of matters. The firm tests this route before any recommendation of formal proceedings, which protects both the client's resources and the working relationship with the other party.
The Letter of Wishes
The Lasting Plans service includes a written letter of wishes alongside the will and lasting power of attorney. This document is not legally binding, but it provides context and guidance to executors and trustees that a formal will cannot easily contain. It is a considered addition that many firms omit.

Take the First Step at Your Own Pace
An Orientation Sitting is a sensible starting point for most pension questions. It costs a fixed amount, produces a written summary, and commits neither party to further work.
