Three Services, One Purpose
Each of Tuah Law's services addresses a distinct stage in a client's relationship with their pension or retirement arrangement — from understanding the position, to defending it, to planning carefully for what follows.
HomeOur Approach
Review First
Every matter begins with a careful review of any documents the client can provide. We do not advise on assumptions.
Quiet Before Formal
Where a matter can be resolved by correspondence, we pursue that route. Formal proceedings are a considered step, not a reflex.
Written at Every Stage
Key conversations are followed by written summaries. Clients are not expected to hold the details in memory.
Service One
Pension Orientation Sitting
A first conversation with the client, in person at 78 Shenton Way or by video, in which the firm sets out the pension landscape that applies to the client's particular position — whether that involves CPF Life, private schemes, or older employer arrangements. The conversation follows a prepared structure but adapts to what the client brings to it.
A brief written summary follows the sitting so that the client need not rely on memory. There is no expectation of further engagement; many find the sitting a useful settled reference for later decisions.
What is Covered
- CPF Life payout options and eligibility
- Private employer scheme entitlements
- Older legacy arrangements still in force
- Decisions the client faces and the considerations each involves
- Written summary of the session
Process
- 1Client contacts the firm and provides any available documents
- 2Engagement confirmed in writing; sitting scheduled within one week
- 3Sitting conducted (approximately 75 minutes)
- 4Written summary provided within two working days
Suitable for
- Those approaching retirement who want to understand their options
- Those who have received a pension statement they cannot interpret
- Those navigating a change in employment that affects pension entitlement
- Family members helping a relative manage retirement arrangements
Service Two
Steady Representation in Pension Withholding Cases
Representation for clients whose pensions or retirement-scheme entitlements are being withheld in part or in full. The firm reviews the position, prepares correspondence, and acts patiently on the client's behalf throughout.
Where the matter can reasonably be settled by quiet means, the firm pursues that route first. Where formal proceedings become necessary, the firm prepares with care and keeps the client closely informed at each step.
What is Included
- Full review of scheme documents and correspondence to date
- Drafted correspondence to the relevant party or administrator
- Formal proceedings if the quiet route does not resolve the matter
- Regular updates without the client needing to ask
- Written note of each significant development
Process
- 1Client provides documents; the firm reviews and advises on the position
- 2Engagement confirmed; correspondence drafted and approved by client
- 3Correspondence sent; response awaited and reviewed
- 4Formal proceedings prepared if necessary; client consulted before each step
Suitable for
- Those whose pension payments have been reduced or stopped
- Those who have received no response to their own enquiries
- Those who believe a scheme administrator has misread the rules
- Those whose entitlement is in dispute following an employment change
Service Three
Lasting Plans for Retirement Years
A planning service that combines a will, a lasting power of attorney, and a written letter of wishes, with particular attention to pension and CPF arrangements. The work is conducted across two unhurried sittings; family members may attend either.
The aim is to produce a settled, well-explained plan that the client can refer to in the years ahead — and that the family can follow with confidence when the time comes.
What is Included
- Drafted and executed will under Singapore law
- Lasting power of attorney covering personal welfare and property
- Written letter of wishes for executors and trustees
- Specific attention to CPF nomination and pension scheme designation
- Family members welcome at either sitting
Process
- 1First sitting — will and personal wishes discussed in detail
- 2Draft documents prepared and sent to client for review (1–2 weeks)
- 3Second sitting — adjustments made; documents signed and witnessed
- 4Originals provided to client; certified copies held by the firm
Suitable for
- Those who do not yet have a will or lasting power of attorney
- Those whose existing documents do not address pension and CPF specifically
- Those who want family members to understand the plan clearly
- Those in their late working years beginning to consider what follows
